Real Spanish. Real culture. Real conversation.
Meet Us
Two native Peruvians sharing the language, culture, and joy of their home with Lake Country Wisconsin.
Karen McArthey
Co-Founder · Director of Educational Programs
Born and raised in Arequipa, Peru, Karen now lives in Lake Country Wisconsin with her husband Mark and their three children. Over 15 years of teaching Spanish, she has worked with thousands of students — across public and private schools, in-person and online, from kindergarten through adulthood. She has a particular gift for teaching absolute beginners and coaching working professionals who want to sharpen their Spanish for career use.
As co-founder of Lake Country Spanish, Karen blends conversation and grammar with fun, hands-on activities and always adapts to each student's goals. As a native speaker rooted in Peruvian culture, she brings depth and context to every lesson — the reason parents and learners keep asking her back year after year.
Cece Kemnitzer
Co-Founder · Director of Curriculum
Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Cece has called the United States home for 25 years and now lives in Pewaukee, Wisconsin with her husband and their 9-year-old twin boys. A graduate of Universidad del Pacífico in Lima, she has spent more than 15 years teaching Spanish to children and adults — and previously owned and operated her own business in the Chicago area.
As co-founder of Lake Country Spanish, Cece designed a curriculum built on conversation, movement, games, music, and culture — because learning a language is as much about the twenty-plus countries who share it as it is about the grammar. Her mission is to help every child become confident, culturally aware, and globally minded.
